Responding to Unjust Laws

This lesson starts with the teacher framing that today they will learn today how to support the opinion that sometimes it is necessary to break an unfair law. They then learn some critical vocabulary and gain background knowledge of Plessy v. Ferguson. The class then turns to reading Heart and Soul by Kadir Nelson to look for examples of laws that must be broken. The lesson ends with a sentence stem activity for students to summarize their learning.
