Voices for Change

In this lesson, students consider how Autumn Peletier, an Indigenous water rights activist, uses her voice for change. Students engage in fluency and vocabulary routines before their teacher leads them through a read aloud. The students consider the meaning of figurative language and discuss the author’s meaning. They then read an additional passage about Autumn Peltier independently. This lesson is adapted from Fishtank.
